Raised in New York City and the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York, Candace began her career in the late 1980's in New York City. While working the club circuit, two of her songs earned airplay on New York (folk and country) radio stations WBAB and WYNY. Shortly before moving to Nashville in the mid 1990's, Candace had a production deal with New York's Planet Studio. "After listening to the producers criticize my country inflections, I declined their offer to re-sign me. Something in me knew Nashville was my next stop."
Candace moved to Nashville in 1993, and began co-writing with many of Nashville's finest tunesmiths. She has become a regular act at the legendary Bluebird Café and has been a featured performer at Tin Pan South, the NEA Extravaganza, Folk Alliance, and celebrity fundraisers such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Tennessee. Candace continues to serve as a national board member alternate for the Songwriter's Guild of America.

Candace's visibility on the internet has continued to introduce her music to journalists and DJ's searching for new independent releases. Asher's CD was voted into the #6 spot for the year 2000's top 20 CD's on the prestigious Holland program The Real Roots Café. Candace was extremely proud to share this top 20 listing along with a number of artists she's long admired: Emmylou Harris, Allison Moorer, Steve Earle and Neil Young, to name a few.
